London Container Terminal’s Vehicle Booking System provides an appointment booking capability for hauliers dropping off and picking up containers, as well as providing status information on both containers and the availability of booking slots. The web based system allows hauliers to make the required bookings in advance of visiting LCT to which physical access is controlled via automated barrier systems and touch screen data entry kiosks that require entry of the booking number within the required time parameters in order to gain entry to the Terminal. LCT was the UK’s first terminal to launch a dedicated VBS mobile app allowing hauliers to make and manage bookings on the go. The VBS system enables LCT to offer best-in-class terminal gate turnaround times.
